Upgrade from Fedora 30 to Fedora 31

Fedora 31 is released. You might be looking to upgrade your system to get latest features. Fedora is giving two methods to upgrade your system

  • Graphical upgrade method
  • Command line upgrade method

Here we are going to use graphical method for Fedora 31 system upgrade. Before proceeding to the further steps, be sure to take backup of the important files. It is highly recommended.

Open Software Application

  • Firstly you search and find the “Software” from the Activities menu.
  • Next click on the “Refresh” button/icon under the “Updates” tab.
  • Available Fedora Upgrade will be listed in the screen on after finished the refresh action.
  • Proceed to click “Download” inside the header section.
  • Remember that if you click on the “Download” under the Updates list section, it will update the available software updates only to the current Fedora version. i.e Fedora 30. Simply ignore this Download now.
  • It’s time to take Coffee break. It will take more time to download the upgrade package. It depends on the internet speed.
  • Once the Fedora 31 Download is finished click on Restart & Install link.
  • On the booting screen Upgrade and migration process will be take place.
  • It’s time to take another long break. It will take long time to migrate. It depends on your computer’s performance.
  • Once it is completed, Fedora 31 is ready to use.
